I have the monthly pre-paid plan (currently $18 / month) and a ZTE Cymbal2 flip-top phone. When sending SMS text messages, sometimes a pair of numbers pops up on the phone, and the first of the pair starts counting down towards zero as I type, which I assume is some kind of limit on how much or how many characters or messages I am currently allowed to send. What limits are there for sending SMS text for this plan and are these numbers somehow indicating that I am nearing one or other of these limits? Cheers, John Lumby
I’m currently a Speakout Mobile user, but planning to migrate to Koodo prepaid 360-day plan, $100, just talk and text, no data. My phone is a Umidigi A11, and it supports the bands used by Koodo/Telus, as well as 4G VoLTE. When I do the Koodo/Telus IMEI test, it says that my phone is not compatible. However, if I insert my partner’s Koodo post-paid SIM, it works just fine, and I can talk and text, and I get 4G VoLTE indicators at the top of my screen. So, the Koodo/Telus IMEI test isn’t quite right, and that could be because Telus has never evaluated my phone make and model. So, are the phone compatibility requirements different for post-paid and prepaid? There is nothing on the Koodo or Telus web site to suggest that. I know that my phone works with Koodo post-paid, so if the compatibility requirements are the same, then my phone should work with Koodo prepaid, even though it fails the IMEI test.
Hello, My elderly father currently uses Speakout wireless, however it sounds like they are getting rid of the 3G network. He currently uses a flip phone with 3G technology.I’m guessing he would have to upgrade to Koodo’s ZTE Cymbal 2 for 4G? He prefers using a flip phone. He currently pays around $100 a year with Speakout so we are considering the $100/360 day Koodo plan.Questions: If he runs out of 400 minutes before the year is finished, does he have to spend another $100 or can he purchase top up amounts of $25, $50 etc?Thank you for your help!
I have the $250 LTP Base Prepaid Plan - 12GB Data - 3G - for 360 days. I paid $250 + HST up front for unlimited voice and text and 12GB data at 3G speed for 360 days. The current billing cycle for me is 18 Jul 2024 to 13 Jul 2025. I have automatic top ups enabled. I am worried about my cellphone and data service during the 5 days in between my old and new billing cycles. Will all service be suspended temporarily from 14 Jul 2025 to 18 Jul 2025? Do I have to do anything to my phone like remove and reinsert my SIM card in order to initialize the new service period? Finally, why won’t Koodo just sell this plan for a 365 day service period with a reasonably increased price?
i signed up for prepaid plan, and im currently in paris. I have a postpaid line on my account and would like to add a prepaid line for a youth - is this possible on the same account?(I understand different email addresses are likely required for each line.)
The Clear app (clearme.com) is used for identity verification by many companies and organizations. It works by scanning a government ID such as a driver’s license or passport, then comparing the photo on the ID with a selfie captured using a mobile phone. I recently tried to use Clear with LinkedIn and it failed because, according to CLEAR Member Services, Koodo doesn’t provide the identification of the owner of the mobile phone number.I’ve used my phone for other similar situations (e.g., CRA and even Koodo) and had no problem. Has anyone else experienced this or know why this is occurring?
I refered a friend and got credit for only one month. I assumed they didn’t continue their service, so I didn’t receive credits for this friend while I got others. My understanding is we can refer a maximum of 3 people. Since I am no longer receiving credits from this friend anymore. Is there anyway I can switch out the inactive friend and replace it with a new friend?
I have a prepaid plan and US Roaming Boosters for talk, data, and text. Where I can I find out if I will have service in a particular place in the US? I’m looking for a coverage map, and I can’t find one. Thanks for any help!
Hey everyone I am going for a vacation to India for 2 months but want to my service active during this so that I don’t have to get a new deal with other carrier. Is there a way I can just keep the number active till I am there and use it as soon as I comeback
I have followed the instructions posted here to activate VoLTE on my iphone 16 but the option does not appear and when I try to enable wifi calling it tells me to contact Koodo.I read another post where an agent had to turn the option on for another customer and hope that can be done for me.I also cannot login to the community using my prepaid account login as it just keeps me going around in a loop so I had to create this account. My phone number is ***394.
What if I change the prepaid plan to the monthly plan what becomes the fee that I already paid, the balance that I already added, the booster, and the promotion data that I got?And one more question, are the prepaid sim card and monthly pay sim card different? So, if I change the plan from prepaid to monthly, do I need to I change my sim card?
How much data is included in the prepaid 100$/360 days plan? I don’t see any mention of this on the website. Thanks!

I am a Prepaid Koodo Customer currently in Europe for an extended period of time. I am trying to get access to international text and roaming by using my Canadian phone number in order to log in to my bank account using 2 factor authentication. However, I am unable to add an international package to my current plan, and I cannot switch to a Monthly Plan because that would require me to pick up a SIM card in person or receive it at my home address in Canada, which I also cannot do. So far, I have also been unable to speak with a Koodo Rep because when the Koodo Chat Bot sets up a callback between you and a rep, they do so using your Koodo-linked phone number, which once again, I do not have access to. I am therefore stuck without any ability to access my bank account in Europe, because I cannot access international texting on my phone. If someone could please help it would be much appreciated.
I have turned off Wi-Fi Assist as previously directed for this same situation. My account is still showing my Data is being used during the night when I am asleep. This is always between the hours of 12 AM & 6 AM.Also, bought a US Roaming that didn’t work in the part of Pennsylvania that I was in. How can I find out where Roaming will work in the US? Thank youBeth
My prepaid plan hasn’t topped up for over 90 days and so my phone number got deactivated. Now when i try to sign into my prepaid account, a “System Error” message pops up. Is it because my account no longer exists due to inactivity? If that’s the case, I can’t seem to register as a new customer to get a new number and plan.
I was just in Toronto for a few days for work and needed to get a Canadian SIM card. Went into a shop, got all set up, worked great.I’ve since flown back to the US, and now tried to activate my online account. However, it wants to verify my Koodo number and send it a text. Except, it’s Prepaid and I can’t receive messages on it while in the US. So I can’t receive the only way I can verify my account and get into my billing. And I can’t fly back to Toronto just to activate my account.I want to be able to make sure I don’t keep getting charged for a plan I literally can’t use. But I can’t guarantee that unless I can login to my account, which I also cannot access without receiving a text message to a phone number I can’t use right now.Any advice?
I have received a 10G promotional bonus data per month for my prepaid account and it showed up on my account in my web login. However, after I used up my regular monthly data, any extra data that I used got deducted from my data booster add-on that is already in my current account instead of 10G under my Promotions Usage section. It should deduct from that 10G promotional bonus data instead of my data booster. Is there any way to get that fixed?
Hello,I want to port my current Koodo prepaid number to another company. But doing so will close my account and I’ll lose my addons. Is it possible for me to port my number while getting a new number for Koodo, allowing me to keep my Koodo addons?
Stream+ is available for prepaid customers?
I have the $15/month prepaid plan (unlimited texts, 100 Canada minutes, and 250 MB) on my iPhone 11 (model A2111) running iOS 17.4.1. (I just changed to that plan today from an older form of $15/month that didn’t include the minutes.) I understand that in order to be certain that the US roaming boosters will work when I travel to the States next month, I need to have VoLTE activated. The support chatbot says that as of February 2023 VoLTE is being enabled for prepaid customers, but I’ve been a prepaid customer for more than ten years, and I still don’t have it. When I go to Settings --> Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Voice and Data, the only two options shown are LTE (which is selected) and 3G. I have tried resetting my voicemail PIN, but that didn’t help. How can I get VoLTE enabled on my line?
Hello.I’m arriving in Canada next month to start my study there.I have a Koodo physical prepaid sim that I would like to activate a week before arriving in Canada. (I have to inform someone about my Canadian phone number before arriving there.)Is it possible to do so? Or do I need to be physically present in Canada to activate it?(My cousin bought and carried the sim card with her to Thailand about a year ago. I hope that the sim has no expiry date. Oh, I also have a top-up voucher code.)
