One can take a brief look at the Kodoo community questions and see a pattern: people love smartwatches and would love to be able to use the LTE versions of their smartwatches on Kodoo, without having to have their smartphones nearby.
I propose Kodoo listen to the growing number of people that express such an interest, and make it possible so that LTE smartwatches (regardless of brand) can work to their full capabilities on the Kodoo Network, retaining the same phone numbers we use on our phones and the same plans.
I understand there are costs associated with the implementation of such a service, but I am willing to bet a large number of people (myself included) would jump at the opportunity, should it present itself, even for a few extra $ compared to the "competition".
Light this post up if you agree.

How did your watch work on LTE previously?
Did you use a sim and pay for LTE connection for your watch that was successful in the past?
It just worked on LTE when I got it, I got the Pixel Watch 1 LTE when it first came out and it always worked even if my phone was at home. It even continued to work when I got the Pixel Watch 2. But after I got an offer to get more data on my account and I switched my plan, it stopped working. :(
Hey @Bernard Koodo ,
Just inquiring to see if there are any further updates on the smartwatch and smartwatch LTE service roll out?
Thanks,
Same with the above post. I would like to follow up with what the plan is for the apple watch/google watch support. Thanks!
As of Noon today, Koodo has launched their cellular plans.
@Stofty Hopefully all is as planned. I did say Oct/Nov launch a few months back. And here we go launched Oct 28th.
If you buy from Apple then Koodo charges a $70 activation fee.
@FloppyDrive - Interesting, when I called Koodo they said there’s no activation fee if I bring my own Apple Watch.
How do you activate a smartwatch or add the plan to your account? How much is the plan? I cant find this info online at all.

They might waive it if you talk to them directly, but if you activate the plan through the Watch app on your Phone, there will be a $70 activation fee which you can try to get credited.
Hey Everyone,
Here are a couple helpful links I have found on another post in the community:
NOTE: when clicking on the links above, a new window/tab does not open.
One thing that wasn’t clear.
You need your phone to be on to send/receive text messages on your watch. Does that phone need to be within the vicinity of the watch if you are on the watch plan?

That’s what I read. It makes it sound like your phone has to be powered on at home, if you want to send/receive text on your watch away from home. Do I understand that correctly?
Or does it mean you can’t send/receive text if your phone isn’t nearby (bluetooth).
As I undertand reading it, your phone must be on and connected to wifi or the Koodo network to send/receive SMS. It doesn’t matter where it is, so long as it’s connected by wifi or network. It wouldn’t need the bluetooth connection.
10$ a month for smartwatch? This is too much. Are there any other providers with more affordable plans?
First tier (such as Telus) carriers are charging 15 to start. 2nd tier, such as Koodo, 10 dollars. Freedom seems to also be 10 dollars. I don’t believe that any of the third tier (such as Public) offer smartwatch plans. Regional carriers, such as Sasktel, you’d have to check with.
I believe Telus allows unlimited sharing with connected devices rather than the Koodo 5G limit.
Hey Everyone,
I bought the Samsung Watch 7 LTE 44mm yesterday from my Koodo Store.
It retails for $520. Because of a promotion or my account status, I go yhe watch for $10 a month, regular $21 and change. Plus $10 for the One Number Plan. The difference vice protection is $9 a month. 2 claims a year for any misphaps, $200 deductible.
I was also billed $70 activation fee, but noticed in my online account that they are crediting me $45.
Planned→Implemented
I switched to Koodo because of the new offer of a lte data plan for a smartwatch. The issue is that I haven't been able to activate it. I’ve updated my devices and still no data. I’ve spoken to 4 different koodo agent’s and been to 4 separate koodo stores and keep getting different explanations. Extremely frustrating when the reps start making stuff up instead of saying that they don’t know. A majority of the reps didn’t know they had a data plan for smartwatches. Disappointing to in that when I signed up I was assured that I could bring my own galaxy 7 smartwatch. When I went back to the same store for help they gave me a phone number to call. The last thing to try is to go to Virgin Mobile but I’m hoping I can find a solution here.

@Leif1 Did you run through the Smartwatch FAQ?
Are you using a Samsung Galaxy Phone? Do you have VoLTE enabled?
