Hi, I am currently in Japan and have been trying to receive SMS text for 2FA ( not sending out messages ). I have added both International Voice Roaming and International Data Roaming to my accounts btw. From what I understand is I need to turn on Data roaming on my setting and Toggle "Data Roaming" to ON in order to receive texts. But wouldn’t that mean I will be charged for using data?? But if I don’t turn on data roaming how will I receive text messages? Appreciate for any kind of assistance, thank you.

oh, that is it. You can’t roam ifyou are on seasonal hold.
Can you change your plan into a normal plan in your self-serve?
+4No, data roaming isn’t required for your SMS. The roaming add-on should be enough. I would recommend you have the easyroam on to limit the amount of roaming. Pay per use rate is quite expensive for casual usage.
Anyway, have you tried to restart the phone to see if the phone can connect to any local network?

Thank you for your reply. I tried restarting my phone and turning on&off airplane mode, it is still not connecting to the local networks.

Which phone are you using? if you try to manually search for the network in the area, can you see any?
+4You could choose Softbank, Docomo or Rakuten to see if your phone can connect.
Anyway, just for confirmation, can you take a snapshot of your current plan add-on here? Hide all personal information before posting please.
+4From the snapshot, your plan had provisions for roaming in Japan. I would try to select the carrier. If that doesn’t work, reset network settings of the phone.
If none works, you could visit back here, and someone will flag a rep to look into the number.
