I’ve been a Koodo customer for some time (6-7ish years); I lived in NB when I first switched from my old provider, and kept my number (which worked flawlessly). The issue I’m having is I moved to the NWT, and changed my number accordingly. I can send and receive phone calls without issue, my data works fine, however when RCS kicked in (this was well after I had changed my number), it now shows my old number for some odd reason. I can send regular SMS messages fine, and they show up with my current number, however when I try to use RCS messaging, it shows as registered with my NB number. I’ve turned RCS on and off several times with no luck; just wondering if there are any other tricks that might fix the issue that anybody knows of?

You can follow these instructions to deregister with RCS:  https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

Then you should be able to register again and it should work correctly!

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to work; Google doesn’t recognize my current number as being registered, and I have no way to receive the verification code if I enter my previous number (the one that RCS chats are tied to for whatever reason). I’ve removed every reference to my old number from my Google profile that I can find, yet I’m still running into the same issue.

Have you registered the new number for RCS?  WHat error appeared when you try to register the current number?

After a bit more digging, I managed to figure it out and get it working properly (in a way it’s kind of embarrassing; considering my IT background). I wasn’t getting any error messages per se, it was simply defaulting back to my old NB number.

The solution (and this is the embarrassing part--I really should’ve thought of this sooner) was to go into the app settings for the Messages app and clear its cache and data (with RCS turned off), and then turn RCS back on. I just did that, and it has now successfully registered with my correct phone number.

For anybody that’s curious, https://zixflow.com/blog/how-to-change-rcs-number is the page that contains the instructions that worked for me.

Thank you to all who responded; I do appreciate the assistance.
