Help! Lost my notes!

“On My iPhone” should not be selected. I have this turned off on my iPhone. 

Another option is to restore your iPhone from a backup via iTunes. If the backups are timestamped, choose a date prior to the update, (December 13th, 2022). Newer Macs don’t use iTunes.

Unfortunately I’m seeing that my last backup via itunes was back in 2019 (which I find strange since I thought itunes backs up every time you connect the phone to your pc which I do every day to charge it!)  as so those notes back then would not be the notes that are the ones I need. :(

Go to icloud.com/notes and sign in with your Apple ID.

That’s the very first thing I checked when I lost my notes … to see if they were there. NOT.  Just the same 10 notes that were left in my phone was what showed in my iCloud account.   Makes me wonder what purpose the cloud serves if I can’t get a backup of my phone on there.
