Question

I returned a phone and there was no applied credit

I ordered a pre owned iPhone from Koodo some time around summer of 2024. I decided it was the wrong choice for me and initiated the return process. I then, under the same account but under a new phone number ordered a different model that was also pre owned. I sent the initial phone back and it was received by Koodo the way it was organized to be, all according to how I was told to send it. I have not received a credit to my account for the phone that was returned. I was under the impression that I would be credited within 4 weeks but it’s been almost a year since I originally sent the phone back. I only came across one other similar situation on this community and it seemed like it was solved by the Koodo team, but I reached out a few days ago for the second time with customer support and they haven’t been very helpful or reachable in general. I’m just wondering if there is an easy solution to this issue that anyone is aware of, and if they could share it so I can too reach a conclusion to this rather stressful situation.

I should also mention I only noticed the lack of credit applied when comparing previous credit card statements and seeing what I’m paying monthly, and how the terms of service come into play to affect this. I am also curious if it’s even possible to get the money back from this return after what seems like more than 6-8 months since Koodo accepted the phone.

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

When you reached out to the rep, what did they say specifically? Did they tell you about the status of the return?

Additionally, from your description, did you create 2 different numbers and return one number back to Koodo? How did you cancel the number?

Hi @DanutaC

We have looked into it and if you are referring to the line starting with 64*, the tab related to the returned phone was refunded back then, and it should also be visible in the tab history

There is indeed the first monthly tab that was charged and wasn’t refunded, which we will apply a credit for.

It this the one you are referring to?

They didn’t make mention of the status of the return when I emailed them.  The exact phrasing is lost on me because I gave up after it appeared that I wasn’t speaking to anyone who had any information to offer that was relevant. As for the phone numbers, yes, I created two and currently have the same two lines active as I have since probably the beginning of my relationship with Koodo about 15 years ago. I didn’t cancel a phone line. I just returned the phone that was added as a single payment of a few hundred dollars on the phone number that did not have an existing tab balance due. When I purchased the second phone which I currently use it was on the other number and I had to pay my previous existing tab and also a monthly tab for roughly two years.

As the rep mentioned above, Koodo said they already refunded to your account (not your credit card though). Have you checked if that was the case? As well, the tab history about the old phone was already cleared.

@DanutaC

We have applied a credit for the monthly tab charge that appears on the September bill, since this wasn’t credited automatically when the tab was reversed for the returned phone.

We are sorry for the inconvenience!

If you have further questions, please let us know.
