I currently have a prepaid plan. My current phone is getting old so I’m looking into buying an unlocked phone from a store. Will I be able to put the SIM I have currently into the unlocked phone and continue to remain on my prepaid plan?

That's correct. That's the beauty of Sim cards. And be sure to use whatever app that your phones manufacturer uses to transfer over everything as well.

Most new handsets use a “nano” SIM. If your phone is very old your SIM maybe the older and slightly larger “micro” size. You will need to buy a new tri-cut SIM card if your old phone is using the older and larger SIM.
If you end up having to use a newer SIM card you can use the online account to do the swap.
