UL Long Distance Minutes (U.S.) $15.00 - does this allow US calling while in the US or only from Canada?

I live in Canada and I text and call the US daily, my bill has a line item called UL Long Distance Minutes (U.S.) $15.00.

We’re about to travel to the US for 2 weeks - does this UL Long Distance Minutes (U.S.) $15.00 cover US calling while I’m in the US? And how does texting and data work when in the US?

Wondering what my plan is actually covering when going to the US, does Easy Roam just take over regardless of one’s phone plan?

No.  The US log distance minutes is only for calls made from Canada.

Your regular plan will still be considered when using Easy roam.  Your data allotment will be based on your plan.  Your calls will use your regular talk minutes but they will include calls to the US and Canada.  And texts will cover those sent to Canada and US

Texting pay per use isn't too expensive in the US. That's one viable alternative if you only need to message occasionally, but if you need to make or receive calls, easy roam or a local provider would be the options.

Ok thank you for the clarity. $14/day seems atrocious. I’ll look and see what’s out there as an alternative.

There was a Canada-US roaming plan in Dec and early Jan for existing customer to change to in self-serve. However the promotion has ended. That plan should perfectly suit your need. I would recommend you check Koodo forum and their self-serve regularly to see if the promotion is back.

Regarding your need to call US (from Canada) that you paid $15/m. I would recommend you switch to a plan that offer the “Unlimited long distance pack” Perk. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/pickyourperk That plan might save you some money for calling to US from Canada.

Regarding the roaming fee, there isn’t “cheap” offer from Koodo. I would recommend you find a local US carrier while you are traveling there. If you would like to receive free incoming SMS from Koodo, make sure you follow proper procedure to avoid any extra fee.
