Will the seasonal hold plan allowed me to receive voicemail and be able to retrieve my messages, also, seasonal hold Olán allowed me to receive texts?

The seasonal hold plan is temporary suspend your service. Just to keep your account and phone number on hold.

There is a $15 starter plan that needs a rep to change it if you want to switch to that.. That might be a better option if you want to revive voicemails and texts during this time
