Easy Roam 30 day pass issues and questions

Hi there, I have been using a Europe Easy Roam 30 day Travel Pass for the past few weeks and had two questions about it.

  1. The pass instructions say that the 30 day pass provides 30 “consecutive days” of roaming but it also says it is active for 45 days and gives an expiration date that is 45 days after the day I ordered it. The instructions say “you’ll only be charged on days you roam.” So does this mean that the pass is used up/expires 30 days after the first day I roam, or does this mean the days only get counted on days I am roaming and I can therefore spread the 30 days across the 45-day activation period until the expiration date? i.e. use it for 3 days, then put my phone on Airplane Mode for 1 day, then use it for 27 days (for a period of 31 days in total). How can I know the actual expiration date of my Travel Pass once it is active and how many days I have used up?

  1. The 30 days since I first activated my Travel Pass have now passed, and so I have put my phone back into Airplane Mode just to be safe (even though I was not roaming for the entire 30 days). Now I would like to purchase another 30 day Travel Pass, as I am still in Europe. However, the pass is still showing as an Add-On in my account i.e. it has not “dropped off” after the 30 days have passed since I first roamed. Does this mean I still have an active Travel Pass with days left on it (and won’t be charged while it is showing up on my account if I roam)? Koodo will not let me purchase a new Travel Pass currently even though the 30 days have passed since I first roamed because the Travel Pass is still showing up on my account. So if my 30 days are used up, why is it still showing up on my account, and how is it possible for me to add a new Travel Pass?

Thank you!

Hi, let me know if this covers everything:

  • The expiration of the 30 day travel pass is 45 days after you add the pass to your Koodo account. Regardless of if you’re roaming or not, the pass will expire on that date, the date does not change when you begin to roam and use the pass. It is recommended that you use the 30 day pass within 15 days of purchase so that you can have full use of the pass. The 30 days are consecutive, so even if you stop using it part way through, the 30 day count down still continues. The pass will be removed from your account until either all 30 consecutive days have passed or the 45 day expiry occurs, whichever comes first. If the pass goes unused for the full 45 days, it expires from your account and you’re not charged. That is why you’re only charged for the pass once you begin using it.

  • As mentioned, the pass will be removed from the account after the 30 consecutive days or at the expiry date. In your case, when you check your self-serve can you check the date that you first were registered as roaming? You can do this by following the steps in the link. You can only add another of the same pass once the current one is removed from your account. If it is still on your account, that would indicate that the 30 consecutive days has not passed and you have days of use left. Alternatively, you can manage your add-ons in self-serve, manually remove the travel pass, wait until you receive a confirmation email saying it was removed, and then will be able to add another pass. Once removed, I suggest you use the texting 7626 method to re-add the pass as others have had issues adding it through self-serve. You won’t be charged to text 7626 to add a travel pass while roaming.

Why was I charged for Easy Roam? | Koodo Community

Hi there - thanks for this information! It’s very helpful.

My Travel Pass is still showing up on my account even though the 30 consecutive days have definitely passed. I can see the date of when I began roaming because I received both a text message and email from Koodo saying that I am now roaming using the 30-day Travel Pass. The annoying thing is that these messages indicate that my pass expires on a date 45 days from when I added the pass, not 30 days from when I activated the pass, so it doesn’t actually say anywhere when the 30 days expire or are up (I just have to calculate it based on the date of activation from these messages).

This is my third time using a Travel Pass, and it doesn’t seem to ever “drop off” or remove itself after the 30 days have passed. This time it is an issue for me because I would like to purchase another Travel Pass and it won’t let me while the old one is still on my account.

I just tried your advice and I am not able to remove the Travel Pass myself in Self-Serve. When I try to remove it myself in the Add-Ons on Self-Serve, I receive a pop-up message saying “Need to make a change? Please connect to a Rep through Koodo Assist and we'll be happy to help you.”

I see, yes I agree, I think Koodo should make a change to their messaging or add something in self-serve so that it is easier for consumers to track their pass / roaming usage. I will pass the suggestion along to those who monitor the community so that the suggestion can go to the right channels. This would definitely be useful!

Since you’re unable to remove the pass in self-serve, I will also flag a rep on here to remove the pass for you and add another. Make sure you’re logged into the community using your self-serve credentials and they will be able to help. They may also be able to see as to why the pass did not get removed after the 30 consecutive days as it should have. Note that response times on the community can vary, so it’s possible they won’t respond right away just a heads up.

Just to clarify, this is what the text message said when I first started roaming, on July 23:

“Koodo: Welcome to XXX (European country)! You have Easy Roam, with a special rate. Europe Easy Roam 30 Day Pass This special rate will expire on Saturday, 05 September, 2026. You’ll only be charged on days you access your Canadian plan’s data, send a text, make or answer a call, or check voicemail.”

This message is quite misleading since it is the message about my Pass being activated on July 23, but the expiration date it gives is the 45 days from when I ordered the pass, not for when the 30 consecutive days are used up. And then it says I’ll only be charged on days I roam. So you can understand why this would be confusing and make it seem like one could spread 30 days across the 45-day period between July 22 (the day I ordered the pass) and September 5 (the date it “expires”).

Thank you! Yes it would be great if a rep could remove the pass for me. Appreciate the help!

@thunderbaby1919

We have managed to remove the Travel Pass for you. Please try adding a new Travel Pass when you get the chance and let us know if it works.
