Since Koodo runs on Telus’ 5G network… Are Koodo customers able to access the n78 (3500 MHz) frequency band or is it restricted to Telus subscribers only. I don’t really care about the speed, but more about reliability at crowded places and events.

I could flag a rep if they can find out and are willing to divulge. I do recall when LTE/LTE-A first came out, they were more clear about the bands used and where. Nowdays it’s not shown whether it’s 700/1700/2100/2600/850/1900 mhz and where. It’s kind of all over the place depending on reallocation from 3G. Koodo just rolled with whatever Telus was doing as Koodo is a Telus owned MVNO. I see that Telus only shows “5G” and “5G 3500mhz” and I’d think it fair that Koodo will be accessing the same way. I guess you’d notice if  coverage does not improve in those areas.

Thanks for the input @Goran! Yes that would be great if we could get a Koodo rep to clarify which 5G bands customers can access.

Sure. I’ve flagged a rep for more info.

Hi @Aitreon

Sorry for the late reply!

Koodo should also have access to the 3500Mhz band, as long as it is in an area where TELUS provide 5G 3500Mhz (https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/network/coverage-map). I am waiting however for a confirmation  to make sure I am giving you a verified answer.

I will post back here once I have it. Thanks for your patience!

@Aitreon It’s confirmed, no restrictions for Koodo customers regarding the 3500Mhz band, as long as this is available in your area. The Koodo coverage map will be updated soon https://choosehappy.koodomobile.com/network/

That’s great to hear! Thank you for taking the time to clarify this @Flo Koodo! 😊
