Why was I charged for Easy Roam?
Step 3: Examine your minutes usage
Click on "View Details" beside the minutes usage. Here, you can see your usage for the current bill cycle and the previous month's usage. To see your usage for the month you were traveling, filter by the invoice date range. If Easy Roam was triggered, you'll see a one-minute phone call with the details "ER/VC." Note that this doesn't mean you used any minutes – it simply indicates that Easy Roam was activated.

Yes koodo do offer a roaming options with their services if you travel outside of Canada and want to use your plan while travelling.
You're charged roaming if you make/receive a call, receive a text using data, send texts, use data, or check your voicemail. It is not free, this service is specifically for roaming outside of canada on a different countries networks, this is what Easy Roam is for. Canada wide however is included in every plan for free.
For roaming in the USA, it is $16 per day of use or if anywhere else it would fall under international Easy Roam which is $18 per day. They also offer travel passes which are prepurchased days of Easy Roam for a cheaper price. More can be found below.

You ARE CHARGED every day for $16 / $18 even if you DO NOT make/receive a call, receive a text using data, send texts, use data, or check your voicemail.
You are charged this daily fee for just being connected to any out-border mobile network, aren’t you ?

The roaming fee shouldn’t be triggered, if you “DO NOT” make/receive a call, receive a text using data, send texts, use data, or check your voicemail.
