I am Koodo phone user.  I recently received a tablet that has  wifi and 5G connection as a present.  Can I get a data only plan thru Koodo for a tablet I didn't buy thru them?   If so, How do I go about activating it??

Hi

Just to confirm, does your tablet take a physical SIM card or is it eSIM only?

On Koodo's side, tablet plans are normally sold together with the device — their activation page states that a tablet must be purchased along with the plan, and existing customers add a tablet plan to their account online through the Tablets page https://www.koodomobile.com/tablets. So for a tablet you already own, it isn't something you can simply add yourself in Self Serve.

What I recommend is bringing the tablet to a Koodo store or authorized dealer and asking them if they can set you up with a SIM for it. They can confirm compatibility at the same time https://www.koodomobile.com/find-nearest-store

As well, if it's an iPad, you'll have to configure the APN settings manually once the SIM is in. More information here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/activating-tablet

Hi there,

No, Koodo do not offer Bring Your Own Tablet plans. They have not for quite some time, the only way to get an LTE connected tablet plan through Koodo is through financing the tablet through them and the plan comes with it.

Their parent company Telus do however offer a standalone tablet plan for business accounts, but that is all in regard to bring your own tablets.

Considering the limitations of being able to get a tablet plan requiring financing a tablet, I’d suggest just hotspotting through your phone for data connectivity if you require it when you don’t have wifi access for your tablet. It’s all I’ve ever done and I’ve been quite fine with it.
