SIM transfer to new IPhone won't connect to cellular network

Just purchased a replacement IPhone14 for my daughter. Transferred the SIM to the new IPhone 14. The cellular settings shows my daughter’s phone number, and shows the correct apn address, but it does not connect to the cellular network. Why? How do I fix this?

I went in Mobile Services> Manage your SIM card or eSIM, and selected “Recover my deleted eSIM or request a replacement SIM card”.  You can then recover the eSIM.

Hi there,

To confirm, when you mean you transferred the sim to the new device was it through apples transfer process or did you remove the physical sim card from the old device and move it to the new one?

Is the old device showing service or is it not showing anything?

I removed the physical SIM from the old IPhone and moved it to the new one.

I do not have the old IPhone with me at the moment(with my daughter), but I would assume it is not showing service as there are no SIM and the IPhone 12 is too old to have an eSIM.

When you go into network settings, if you select manual selection mode,  does Koodo show up on the list? oDo any networks show up? It may need a minute.

Yes, Koodo does show up as well as other networks. If I select Koodo, I still cannot get any service. SOS text is still present.

Where was this replacement iphone 14 purchased from that isn’t connecting?

Have you been able to put it back into the old phone, or any other phone just to check that the sim card is still working fine? It’s not common, but a fault could have happened at that exact moment somewhere related to the service or sim card.

I swapped the SIM cards from my IPhone with hers and the problem followed the SIM card. So, need a new one,

Let me flag a rep just to see if they notice anything on their side. If not, or if they don’t respond soon enough, it may be easiest to go to the nearest Koodo store and do a sim swap.

Hi @llacourciere, is this for the line ending in *48 on your account? If so, the eSIM on the line appears to have been deleted. You would need a new eSIM voucher or a physical SIM to replace it as the current one cannot be reactivated.

Hi,

Yes, this is for the number ending in 48. This number has a physical SIM, so not sure why the eSIM being deleted would have any effect on her service.

Since the physical SIM no longer works, would you be able to send me an eSIM voucher for the new IPhone?  Thanks

Once it is deleted, the eSIM can’t be recovered. If you would like to have a new voucher, you would have to visit a Koodo store and ask a rep for it.

if you want to use the physical SIM, you can try to schedule a call back and ask a rep to see if they switch the SIM back. It is not guaranteed though.

The SIM that’s currently active on the line is the eSIM. You can try to swap to the physical SIM in your online account, here is a guide under SIM card replacements.

I was able to recover the eSIM on the new IPhone and it now works.
