Phone switches network

We have been with Koodo for about 3 years. My phone is a Motorola. For some odd reason my network keeps switching from Koodo to Telus and it really buggers my phone up for texting. No one can seem to figure it out and it will randomly switch back. One of the weirdest things is that it won't even download any pictures from Koodo texts when they send deals.

That sounds like your device is switching between the network coverages of Telus and Koodo depending on which is best in the area.

In your device settings under your carrier selection, can you try and switch it from automatic → Manual → and then select Koodo? This will force the device to only use the Koodo network, it usually is set to automatic by default. See if this helps. 🙂

If it works, just note that if you restart the device you may have to reset this setting again. If you go travelling and would like to roam, remember to set it back to automatic.

Thank you for responding. I did and selected Koodo, it said connected and then when I exited out and went my home screen it went back to Telus. Everything else on the phone works great. It's just when you have to send pics to work or want to send to an iPhone it just keeps saying downloading and then quits. I'm wondering if maybe the problem is my phone?

Try your sim in another working device and see if the issue follows your sim.

At the same time, take a confirmed working sim and put it in your Moto and see if the issue follows your phone.

Ok, that makes sense...lol. I did try taking the sim card out and putting it the second slot but still the same outcome. I'll see if I can find another phone to try. Thank you very much

Let me flag a rep to see if your service can be provisioned.

Hi @ShannyB13, we’re not seeing any provisioning issues for your account so it may be device or network related. Here are some troubleshooting steps for messaging you can try.

Out of curiosity, which Motorola model are you using? have you checked if your APN is set correctly? as per Koodo requirement? https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-data-your-non-koodo-phone?

I have someone coming over that's more technically inclined than me to look at the APN. I really appreciate all the help I've been given
