Question

network unavailable

Why is it that two weeks ago I had zero problems with my network service, and now I am constantly receiving the notification that says Network (koodo) unavailable? I have tried all the steps to troubleshoot and to get this to stop happening. It is extremely frustrating because it happens constantly while I'm in my own home. I do live near the border, but it doesn't make sense why my service has been great for years until a few weeks ago.

Check for border roaming. If you are near the U.S. border, set your network selection to Manual and choose Koodo instead of Automatic. Maybe it’s trying to connect to an US network and it shows unavailable. Phones on Automatic can jump to a stronger U.S. tower and show no Koodo service even while you are still in Canada. Also, turn roaming off in your phone settings if you are staying home near the border to avoid roaming charges.

Reset your network settings if it still says network unavailable. That clears corrupted carrier or network preferences and forces a fresh scan. Test your SIM in another phone if you can. If the SIM works in another device, the issue is likely the phone.

Sudden service loss can come from signal degradation inside the house because Koodo tweaked their towers, and a small change in location can reveal if the phone is just on the edge of coverage.

Does anybody else in your home have problems with the connection to Koodo?

Hi @Sarah Dorner

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the network connection.

You mentioned that this only happens in your home. Are you having the same issue outside or in a diferent location?

Are you able to use the sim on a different phone and see if you are having the same issue?

Is wifi calling enabled on your phone?
