Koodo is Terrible for blocking voicemails

I have tried for weeks to get Call Control on my Koodo account. Chatting with an X rep, etc. Not realizing you can apparently only do it on the PC, I finally logged in tonight and tried their steps. Nope. Clicked Turn on Call Control. Over and over, it wouldn't let me.

I have blocked someone's phone number from my phone but they can still leave voicemails. I am getting harrassed. I couldn't even get a Telus rep to call me because I don't have a Telus account.. only Koodo.

Absolutely ridiculous that I can't block someone from leaving me a voicemail. Unfortunately, I've had to put on an extended absence greeting in my voicemail and not allow ANYONE to leave me voicemails. Terrible setup. Please have a rep turn on my Call Control feature so I can add this person's phone number to it. This is a security issue. Appreciate it.

hi,

iOS and MacBook should work as well.can you share specific errors that you encountered? does the person who you would like to block, is using the same number? Did they try to use another one?

I don't get an error message, it just says "Call Control has been turned off." I click it, it says the same thing. Over and over.

Try clearing your browser's cache and try again to see if that fixes things

That is correct. You cannot prevent a blocked contact from leaving a voicemail message, even with the Call Control feature.

The best way is to entirely disable your voicemail with the assistance of a rep by scheduling a callback through Koodo Assist. https://Koo.do/Chat

@MilkyWay isn't that odd, though? I put on my Extended absence greeting and disabled people from leaving me a VM, but does that mean I can never let normal people leave me a VM? It seems odd that I can't block one number from leaving me VMs. For safety reasons.

Yes, you are essentially disabling your voicemail temporarily and preventing other people from leaving you a voicemail message.

There is no way to block a single number unless you include third-party call blocking apps to your phone.

I believe you still heard their voicemail because the call control is off. If the caller is on blocked list of Koodo call control (not in your phone), they would only heard the standard message saying they are blocked by call control.

i will flag a rep to see if they could manually enable your call control in the forum

Thanks so much. I just want to enable Call Control and add this one number to it.

Hi @Keg79

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble enabling the Call Control feature.

We can see Call Control is provisioned to your account.

If you try to enable it by dialing *99 from your Koodo phone, are you able to turn it on?

@Flo Koodo Unfortunately that doesn't work, either. When I dial *99 it just says "I'm sorry. your line does not have Call Control. Please login to your online account to add it" then it disconnects.

Got it, thank you for checking!

From our end, we have limited access when it comes to disabling or enabling Call Control.

One option would be to remove and re-add Call Control in selfserve and then try again to enable it. The blocked numbers will be reset in this case, and you would need to add them again.

The other option would be to schedule a call back with our technical support team so they can further investigate why Call Control cannot be enabled.

Yes, please, I'd like someone to look at my account and help me turn call control on. Thanks

Did you want to do the callback?  If so you need to request a callback via Koodo assist

It will not let me add Call Control. I do tech support at my job, so trust me, I have tried. I can't book a rep call because it keeps telling me to sign in, then I try to sign in and it says customer not found. Even though I'm able to sign in normally. It's a vicious cycle :) id like @Flo Koodo to sign me up for a call from a rep. Thanks

You dont need to sign in to schedule a callback.

If Koodo assist is giving you trouble, I recommend typing that you want to cancel, when you should be able to the callback scheduling prompt
