how to replace zte wf721 with android phone

The portable handsets used with the zte are kaput and replacement is very expensive. The sim card does not work in a spare android phone (android asks for pku?).  I want to move the number to the android phone. Do I simply request a new sim card or is it more complicated than that?

Hi @BHoltby

If it is about the line ending in *27, the plan should be compatible with an android device, however when it comes to the sim card, it depends on what type of sim the device accepts.

As long as the sim fits in, it should work on the Android device, otherwise a replacement may be required.

In case you encounter any issues once the sim is in (if services are not working), we recommend following the troubleshooting steps here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/im-not-getting-any-network-service

If that doesn’t fix the issue, a call back with the technical support team might be needed.

It should fit if it is a Tri-cut SIM card that is compatible with all different sizes. I would suggest you to remove it from your phone base and check it out first. Most phones nowadays use the nano SIM, so you can just simply make it smaller. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/koodo-sim-support

Be careful with the idea of putting your homephone sim card into an Android phone since both data and outgoing sms aren't included in the plan. You might have to pay extra with payperuse rate.

I recommend you change your plan into something else before use it an Android.

If you dont want your home phone anymore, I suggest you sign up for a Koodo wireless plan and then port your home phone number over to your new wireless line.
