30 day Europe travel pass

I just bought a 30 day Europe pass and plan to activate on June 15/26 when I land and turn on data roaming, per the instructions. The Koodo site says the pass needs to be used by June 20th so I assumed that meant ACTIVATED by June 20th.
 

I’m also reading comments here that say people are being charged over and above the $60 paid for the pass.
 

I also got an email and text saying I added more data that can be used before the end of my billing cycle (which is three days from now). Koodo makes it all sound so simple.  I tried the agent chat and the connection keeps disconnecting and I’m not getting an answer. Frustrating. 
 

Is the pass I just bought actually going to work on June 15 when I land in Europe and am I going to be charged over and above the $60 I paid assuming I don’t go over my monthly data plan? I have loads of monthly data. Thanks!

Hi there,

the pass will work on June 15th, however, the date it gave you is an expiry date for the pass. Even if you begin using the pass, it will expire from the account on June 20th as it stays on your account for 45 days after you add it.

I suggest you remove it from your account until you get closer to your departure date and then add the pass at least 15 days before so you can get use out of the full 30 days. If you remove it and it hasn’t been used, you won’t be charged.

With the travel pass it is simply pre-purchased days of Easy Roam. With this, you receive all of your plan features be it calling, texting and data. Whatever is included in your plan is what will be available to you when you use the pass. As long as you don’t go over what comes included in your plan, you won’t be charged extra for data usage.

Thanks! So how do I remove the pass from my account? I’ve already purchased it (I’m plan ahead person) and it’s showing on my Koodo account.

No problem 🙂 You can follow the steps here to remove the add-on: Changing your add-ons | Koodo Mobile

When you get to the add-ons, just hit the “X” that shows on the right side of the travel pass. From there, the add-on should be removed after you confirm. If you run into problems, let us know.

Note, you’re only billed for the pass once you start using your phone when travelling. You should not see any charges from this on your next bill. 👍

Hi. I just finished a chat with a Koodo (live) rep and was told the Europe pass can stay on my account add ons until I’m ready to use it (by June 22nd) and can be used once I turn on data roaming when I land in Europe in mid June. Once the plan activates when I turn on data roaming in Europe I have 30 days to use it. I’m not sure why this has to be so difficult. I’ve screenshot the chat with the live agent in case what they’ve told me is not the case.

That is not the case unfortunately, the pass will expire on June 22. I’d recommend removing it for now and re-adding it closer to your trip (no earlier than 15 days before your departure) so you can use the full 30 days included.

I did as the previous poster suggested above / logged onto my Koodo account and tried to remove the Europe 30 day plan from my add ons - it wouldn’t let me do it and re-directed me to contact a Koodo rep which I did. That rep was the one who told me the add on can stay on my account and won’t activate until I turn on roaming when I land in Europe in mid June. 
 

if I need to remove the add on contrary to what your Koodo colleague has advised in the screenshots below then please assist me and remove the add on as I can’t do it myself, as I noted above.  I am beyond frustrated

The expert messaging is incorrect. Maybe it misunderstood, was misinformed, good ol' Human error.

Definitely understand the confusion, our apologies for the misunderstanding. I’ve removed the pass from your *27 line. When you are ready to re-add the Europe Easy Roam 30 Day Pass, you can text EU30PASS to 7626 from the line in question.

If you want to be able to get full use out of the pass before it expires and want to get it asap, I would suggest anytime after June 2nd is fine.

Say you get it on the 2nd and start using on the 15th, because of the expiry date you would get 31 days left to use the pass (45 days - 14days, leaving 31 days to use it. June 2nd is counted as one day). Anytime after June 2nd if you purchase it is just extra days before it expires as the pass itself is 30 days once you start using it.
