Hello I just paid for a BYOD plan with phone number transfer request, but it appears that I will get a koodo phone number anyway, its still an optional whether I transfer or not, is that true? I think my koodo number is pretty good :)

That’s correct, you will be assigned a new (temporary) number. As soon as you receive your SIM card and your line is active, you can port in your old number.
However if you like your new number, there is no reason in the world to port in your old number. If you like your new number better, feel free to keep it! Just make sure you manually cancel your old account so you don’t end up paying for two accounts.
