I upgraded phone 6 moths ago and am not impressed. Have a tab and tab bonus balance...do i have to pay both off before i can change phones? And do i have to buy new phone outright or can i select a new plan?

+4You need to pay off your tab and pay back your remaining tab bonus as well. If you have 18 months left for your current phone, it could be expensive... You can check how much tab left on your self serve.
You can buy a new phone with a new tab.
You are well beyond the 30 day return period.
To avoid paying back the tab, but more importantly to avoid paying back the Tab Bonus, you can buy a phone outright. You can buy a phone outright through Koodo or elsewhere (ex. direct from the manufacturer, free phone from friends or family). But if you are willing to pay off the tab and tab bonus, you can upgrade your phone via tab.
You only need to worry about possibly needing to change your plan if you want to get a new device on a new tab. Otherwise, you can keep your plan with your current tab
