Does using a new SIM deactivate the old SIM?

I got a new phone from Koodo that came with a new SIM card. Can I use it on my new phone and still be able to use my old phone with the old SIM, or will it deactivate? Also, if not should I save the new SIM as a backup and just put my old SIM into the new phone?

You cannot use both at once.

If you activate the sim card that came with the new phone, it would deactivate the old one.

You should indeed just save the new one as a backup and put the old sim in the new phone.

Thank you, I wasn’t sure if it would expire or something if I didn’t use it.
