I have a multi size sim card. If I pop out the nano to use can I later put it back into the micro size to fit into a different phone?

That is fine! Just make sure you don’t look the little plastic piece to put it back to a micro sim!

Another and perhaps safer option would be to get a SIM card adapter kit.
