Yep it’s on the bill, $16 under roaming charges :) thanks for your help!

No problem! And thanks for confirming, I will flag a rep to assist, just make sure you're logged into the community using your self serve credentials.

Going forward if you havent already, I suggest changing your carrier selection settings from automatic to manual and then Koodo. That and turning off roaming should prevent these charges again. More can be found here:

If you live close to the border, then it may be worth considering a Can/US plan as roaming to the US would be included for free. They're also quite cheap atm, I suggest you take a look.

Hi there,

To confirm, did the charges show on your most recent bill or was it just the roaming notification saying you were charged?

If it has shown on the bill then we can help out, if not, then you will have to wait for the bill to be issued before a credit can be given.

You’ll want to log into the Koodo Community using your Self Serve credentials so a rep can review the March 2026 charges. They have removed identical 16 dollar EasyRoam fees in cases like yours where there was an accidental tower pickup while in Canada. Check your bill details in Self Serve to see the exact trigger like data, SMS, or a fake caller ID call. Also, switch your carrier selection to manual in your phone settings to stop auto connecting to US towers near borders.

Hello @shangroen We have reviewed the details and we have been able to remove the roaming charge since it was triggered due to accidental data roaming, feel free to check the details in your self serve account when you get the chance.

We recommend switching data roaming off and also switch to manual network and select Koodo, this would prevent the connection to a US tower when near the border.

For more info about how to prevent accidental roaming charges, please check out this article https://community.koodomobile.com/plans-services-232910/easy-roam-understanding-how-you-will-be-charged-while-traveling-7811296

Also, feel free to check the available  plans in your self serve account, as you might be eligible for a Canada-US plan: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/changing-your-rate-plan

With a Canada-US plan, there will be no fees for when the phone picks a US tower while near the border,. On top of that, you can use your phone without additional charges in US (some exceptions apply). More about Canada-US plans, you can find here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/traveling-with-your-canada-us-rate-plan
