Problem Receiving Messages Internationally

Hi. I’m not living in Canada but my plan doesn’t include text or calls in foreign countries, so I can’t schedule a callback or activate to self-serve either. I want to upgrade my plan from prepaid to a monthly plan that includes international calls and messages. How can I do this? It’s impossible to speak to anyone on the phone unless you can schedule a callback, and I can’t

Prepaid plans can only be used in Canada and the U.S. with the purchase of roaming add-ons. That is why you cannot receive any text messages.

You should be able to switch from Koodo Prepaid to a postpaid plan through the Fast Switch Self Serve option. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/moving-prepaid-postpaid-monthly-service

@MilkyWay I can’t activate Self Serve because for me to set it up I need to receive a message, and I can’t. How can I fix this issue? I need to upgrade somehow...

Unfortunately, you will need to send the SIM card back to a family member or close friend in Canada to help you out.

You can also sign up directly for a postpaid account on the Koodo page and have it sent to your mailing address in Canada. Once the order is approved after the credit check, you can set up the eSIM from your Self-Serve account. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/esim-and-esim-vouchers

Hi again. Thank you very much for taking the time to help @MilkyWay The problem with that is that I didn’t sign for a physical SIM card, just eSIM…
If I signup for another card, I would lose my phone number, I just need my current phone number to be upgraded to a monthly plan with international calls and messages :)

In that case, you are pretty much out of luck. You will likely need to mail out your phone with the eSIM in order to let someone in Canada help you out. Once they receive it, they should be able to register for your Self-Serve account, switch to a postpaid plan, and send the phone back to you.

I suggest setting up a canadian VOIP number and schedule a call back to that voip number to speak with a rep to move you over to a monthly plan and hopefully set you up with a esim

But for sure you will need to callback to speak with a rep.  In my opinion, You may need to do this multiple times until you get a rep that is experienced enough to complete this
