The prepaid add-ons are pretty expensive. You will only get unlimited U.S. talk and text and 3GB of roaming data for $25 and the add-ons expire within 15 days after the date of purchase. You are probably better off getting an eSIM elsewhere with more data at a fraction of the price.
Why do need to text to Canada? Could you use apps over Wifi instead? Also, is your phone Esim compatible? If not, you can buy eim adaptors so you can purchase esims as MilkyWay has suggested. I used an adapter in the Phillipines last winter with a Esim installed., worked great.
