I have been on Koodo $15 Prepaid with automatic top-up  for many years . Can I change to the current new $15 Prepaid with added 250MB monthly bonus without losing my current 10% discount from having automatic top-up ?

Hello, I ended up requesting a call-back. The rep confirmed that I was eligible for the 500mb instead of the 250mb that I got two weeks ago. She wasn’t sure how to change my bonus from 250mb to 500mb, so after being on hold for 5 minutes, she told me that she would text me and let me know what the result would be. So, I just got a text confirming the new plan, $15 for 100 minutes AND 500mb. Not sure if I still have the 10% discount that was grandfathered in, but not too worried. This is my 8th anniversary with Koodo this month! So, I guess I’m pretty happy with Koodo if I’ve been with them for 8 years. I can’t imagine that they can deal with everyone calling in, so maybe they will give a statement to Sophia that starting the next cycle, everyone will increase from 250mb to 500mb? I got the impression they are scrambling a bit because this is so new. But, kudos to Koodo, they cheerfully came through for me.


Well congratulations!!! I would really suggest that everyone calls in quickly. I honestly believe this might be a mistake (Public Mobile still mentions 250MB bonus) so make sure you get that upgrade while the going is good!


Hi again, it gets better. Sophia, while you were typing your reply to my post, the Koodo rep called me back to give me all the details. Such great service. She confirmed that I will receive 500 mb every month and I still retain my grandfathered 10% discount for the auto top ups. Really, i am amazed at the high level of service I received from Koodo for such a low $$$ plan. Mind you, I’ve been a Telus customer for decades and have spent thousands with them, but really - service today from Koodo has been simply outstanding. I live in the US for 5 months a year as a snowbird, and this is such a great plan for snowbirds. Thank you, Koodo! Thanks, Sophia for your follow up.

What’s the quickest way to reach a human at Koodo to make this happen?


Well, here’s the bad news; it WAS a mistake and in the process of being fixed. In fact I just checked and all mention of a bonus is now gone, not even 250MB is mentioned.

You could still try to schedule a callback using the digital assistant, but… well I don’t think you’ll be able to get it now :(

Joe, I used the prepaid digital assistant to schedule the call back, you just have to keep telling it that it hasn’t answered your question and type in “callback”.  The 500mb bonus was still on the webpage this morning when I checked. Since Sophia’s post 4 minutes ago, it is back to 250mb, so I guess I was lucky! Thank you, Sophia for your advice!

I’m sorry it was an error on their part, but I was very impressed with how I was treated by their rep, I never call into to them (not in 8 years) but when I did, they were fantastic. Still doesn’t hurt to give it a try, the callback came within 3 minutes of my request.

 


I checked recently & there’s not even 250 MB in the $15 plan. So maybe the website has a different error today. I changed yesterday & didn’t get the bonus shown online (yesterday). I hope that’s will be successful. I do have a screenshot. I’ll let you know.

No worries about the doubting… just sorry you might have missed out on it. But since you have a screenshot of yesterday’s offer, AND you changed your plan yesterday, I hope they might still honor it. 

If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t end up getting it either (you snooze, you lose). So hubby is staying with Public Mobile and I’ll keep my postpaid plan after all :)


I called Koodo & asked for call back. At first no luck then the 500 MB was found from yesterday & I got it. Or thought I did - just checked online & I still have the 250 MB plan with a 500 MB data booster added. That’s not what I was told though it’s better than I had. This might take another call.

 


AlexTh is this the same result you got or did your 250 become 500? I thought that was yesterday’s deal, not a booster.  Or will I get a booster every month? At this point I have no idea since I was told it was 500 monthly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Sorry, I got a Data Booster 500 MB Double, so 1 GB - the bonus did not say that for sure. Hope someone else tries & we’ll see if there’s another permutation.


Hi Joe, mine is listed under "My Promotions", 500mb, monthly each month. It isn't a bonus, it's permanent. Oddly, it also says "Walmart". So, maybe this whole promotion was only meant for Walmart customers and not general public? But, Koodo has gifted you a double bonus even though they removed the mistaken 500mb from the website. You should still get the 250mb with  auto top up each month. This is still an okay deal given Koodo's good coverage in US and Canada. I only wish I could prepay for a Europe roaming booster, then I wouldnt have to buy a foreign sim from Amazon, would rather pay Koodo.


I suspected you got something else. I doubt I’ll use much data so I think I’ll forget another try for 500/mo. Maybe 3G data will be awful & I’ll change plans - 4G might be cheap when 5G is common?
