Looking to switch from Robbers / I meant Rogers to Internet via Koodo

Hello,

After being a long time loyal customer with Rogers and asking them to review our unbelievably high bills they declined; after 2 decades of service and they never once offered a better deal.

I would like in my Koodo account an offer to switch my home internet from Robbers to Koodo and cancel ROBBERS in it’s entirety ( land line / Internet / Television. )

Please add to my official Koodo account a reasonable offer to do so, my current cellular plan is with Koodo.

I would like a quote for unlimited internet 500 as well as a separate quote for 1Gps unlimited internet. CONSIDERING I ALREADY HAVE A CELLULAR PLAN WITH YOU.

Also Is any installation needed? I.e. co-ax going into the house etc? Do i place said order and the modem/router is simply sent to me? Any wiring needed?

I would like to have my Internet up and running before I finalize closure with Rogers, so I do not miss out on any essential bill payments etc.

please send offers available to my KooDo account as we do not accept unsolicited calls when it is so easy to spoof numbers.

I also assume I can use my own router, setting the Koodo provided one into bridged mode if necessary?

This is required for my LAN setup.

regards,

A loyal customer, who has had enough of seeing their elderly loved ones being ROBBED.

Here you can find if you are able to get Koodo internet and the pricing.  Note that Koodo internet is a prepaid subscription service.

https://www.koodomobile.com/en/shop/subscriptions/internet?srsltid=AfmBOorqmjnZGBrB8EfR0xTCBOtxnveeM3WbXcSCVEeJL8ZZJeraESiz

You just need to sign up with a plan that works for you.  Are you currently a Koodo mobile customer?

Setup of Koodo home internet should be basic plug and play

https://www.koodomobile.com/en/setup/internet?srsltid=AfmBOopEIR_Q5mYIfpbf7wlBRp6xOoNgNIeVbU84ENwl1oDGp2TEeFsC

However if there are issues with your coax line to your home, a technician can be requested through a callback via Koodo assist.

Here are the info on the modem and router.  These are units that I believe Telus Internet uses.  I would search them up to see if Bridge mode is possible.  And yes you should be able to use your own router, though some have reported some difficulties.

Note that Koodo is a reseller of these internet services in areas where Telus Internet is not sold.

I guess all i need to do now is make sure the COAX was left in place and not cut when the other ISP changed our service to ignite.

Again though I will be using my own router due to complex setup, isolated vlans / IoT device isolation, management and labs.

thank you for your help. I do see the offer available, just want to make sure everything is RTG when i accept said offer, unfortunate in this day and age I’m not sure how people survive without internet.

Since your install is more complex, I do want to note that if the service does not run well or if there are any issues, the support from Koodo as a 3rd party reseller is very limited.

I personally run my modem on bridge mode and use a GL.iNet router as my wife needs to VPN back to her setup for her home business.  I am currently running Home Assistant and a putting together a TrueNAS setup. Unfortunately I am in Alberta and with Telus being the big player here, there is no option for Koodo home internet.

Is it best to pay off my tab, and do a BYOD and transfer directly to telus? Or should i just remain with KooDo.

I will have somewhat of a similar setup.

Also in todays news the FCC is banning all foreign routers ; grab yours while you can.

It depends on the savings you make. Hard to say just like that.

@SummerSun Why would an American ban on importing routers to the US affect Canada?

You do have the option to transfer your tab to Telus from Koodo. Paying it off early will not remove the tab subsidy amount you also still have to pay if you leave Koodo before the 24 months is up. I would only suggest switching over by also transferring your tab. if it makes sense financially to do so.

It sounded like you already have Koodo mobility service previously.

Are you switching your Telus mobility service to Koodo and your Rogers home internet to Koodo home internet?

I simply have a cell phone via koodo with like 60GB of data.

Everything else is tied to rogers, TV, “Land Line” and Internet.

All I want is to remove my current ISP and bundled services.

I’ll solve my TV issues via streaming services.

In other words I’m looking to replace my current ISP total package to simply Internet provided by KooDo or Telus itself, and remove rogers from my life.

While it may not be an issue now it may become one. It was simply a heads up to others about the ever changing landscape in todays messed up world of Geo-politics. Take it as you will.

Whether you purchase a Cisco router like back in the day when we discovered the routers actually came with a backdoor ; or whether you own a foreign produced router ( which most do ) ( and could very well contain a backdoor )

One is left to make their own decisions. Anyways this is not the forum for discussing such matters. So forgive me for even posting it.

In you are looking to move just internet services there is no tab or BYOD options as these are for mobility services only. When you leave Rogers I presume you will need to send back their equipment. And if you are on a contract, there may be penalties.

Note that koodo home internet is a prepaid subscription service. Koodo also offers streaming bundles as well, but no like tv channels similar to cable.

If you still need a landline, koodo does offer. Home phone services using its wireless network.

That is the idea remove rogers ISP ( Ignite bundle with TV package , Internet, and land line. )

And subsequently purchase Koodo Internet only for the house, again though I need to use my own router,  possibly with my setup OPNsense and my own router to my switch, to manage vlans etc, segregate IoT devices properly etc. Seperate SSIDS ( multiple SSIDs ).

Many people fail to understand attack surfaces remain if they are sim[ply told to just drop all IoT devices onto the Guest network, without proper protocol lockdowns and firewall rules, vlan segregation etc.

I own firesticks, Rokus etc so streaming / watching TV will not be an issue, i do not need the TV package and will probably opt in to the stream+ offer as well.

I will also have a family member who is currently being overcharged via Bell for their own cellular service over to Koodo as the rates and plans are much more reasonable.

Thank you for your input.

In that case if you are only moving ISP there is no need to mess with your Tab or worry about a BYOD or anything.

Just sign up for Koodo internet.  Once it is confirmed to work, cancel your Rogers internet.

One final question if I may ;

Should I add the koodo internet, and it does not meet my needs can I cancel it? Will there be any cancellation fees?

If I do not know if I can bridge my own router etc ; I’m a little hesitant to have to pay a full year of internet in one shot and then find out it’s just not reliable for my needs?

Currently on a 1GPS plan via other ISP, looking to downgrade to 500Mpbs possibly.

Again though ; If i find this is not the proper service for me will I have any issues cancelling said service?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am also planning on bringing over a BYOD cell for a very basic plan,

And will be referring another family member to change from Bell and have them move onto our Koodo plan, as Bell is charging them way to much. These companies seem to love to take advantage of our elderly.

I think it is worth a try.  It is not for everyone and support is limited but if you have done your research and the price is right, you should definitely try it.

There are no cancellation fees.  It is a prepaid service, so you can cancel without any penalties.  Note that cancelling requires a callback and sometimes that can be tricky.  If you have issues, you can reach out here.

Koodo internet is only month to month.  There are no year long contracts

Yes you can cancel as it is a prepaid month to month service.  No contracts.

Dennis,

Just to make sure ; when i log into my koodoo moile account i use the MONTHLY CUSTOMER LOGIN box ; is the correct or should i be loggin into the prepaid customer account area ( which I do not belive I have ever made an account for.

Regardless while logged in via Monthly Customer portal I can see my lines my perks etc.

thank you again.

I’ll be looking at ordering the koodo internet soon ; just need to order some coax extension as the line coming out of the wall will need a female to female adapter ; is there a specific cable i should purchase as the extension vable, as the one coming out of the wall is too short to reach where i would like to place my router.

Thank you for taking your time and being so helpful.

Yes. Login to your monthly postpaid self serve account.

There is no special coaxial cable that is needed. Any regular coax extention cable is fine
