Recently, I switched from my previous plan to a reduced speed but 75 Gig plan. It included 2 perks (international minutes, which I had before and which are super important to me, but would cost another 10 bucks if I  lost them).

I am thinking of switching phones. The only one on Koodo’s website that I am half interested in (Why is the new Motorola Edge not available????) is the Samsung Galaxy 23 (although I am so done with this annoying Samsung A52).

At first every attempt that I made of buying a phone on Koodo’s website with tab resulted in a ‘you can’t keep your plan with this offer’ message. Now it says I can keep my plan, but ‘you can buy perks after purchase’ … To me that sounds like I will be loosing my perks, which I consider part of my plan.

(BTW the number of phones available has markedly decreased or am I seeing this wrong? Do they really want us to sign up with TELUS? Is that it?)

Telecoms mark up phone prices.  Can you purchase the phone you want direct fromthe manufacturer?  If you can, then i recommend that route and then you wont have to worry about any of this plan change stuff

@Sang-gye Buschmann Did the issue happen even with Tab Basic? The rest of the tabs require higher plan eligibilities.

@Dennis

I don’t think you are correct.
When purchased on Tab the phone’s price is currently $620, whereas I don’t see it retailed anywhere below $799 (and that’s Walmart.ca … who knows if it actually available … have some bad experiences with their online market).

@Bernard Koodo
yes, that happened even with the highest tab (0 down, $24.93 for 24 months).

@Bernard Koodo …. I now see what you are saying … let me double check.

What I am saying is the the retail value on the samsung website is $1099 and on Koodo’s page, it retails for $1360.  Canadian carriers all inflate the retail price so that any sale price they give, also inflates the Tab bonus, resulting in a contract-like penalty if you want to upgrade early or leave koodo early.
