European Travel Pass "use by"

I was happy to discover the 30 day European Travel Pass that I intended to use for an upcoming trip to Europe.  When getting more details, I noticed that it says it must be used 2026-09-08.  Considering that I am only leaving for Europe on September 10, does it mean that it may not be an available option for me to use?  Need to figure this out sooner rather than later as I may have to get an e-sim from elsewhere if that is the case.

Thanks for your help in sorting this out.

Hi there,

Yes, the Koodo travel passes expire from your account after a while for billing purposes, this is the “use by” date you see. They’re intended to be a temporary add-on and not a permanent one. Once they have been used or expired, they can be added again.

If the pass goes unused on your account and it eventually expires it will be removed from your account (like in your case of the sept 9th) and you will not be charged for the pass on your next billing cycle. This is different if you begin using the pass and it expires mid use - you will still be charged for the pass and it will still be removed from the account on the specified date.

I recommend removing the pass from your account for now and re-adding it closer to your travel dates. Make sure to align the adding of the pass with how long you will be gone for so that it does not expire during your trip.

To remove the pass, you can do so in self serve under your add-ons. Steps to do this can be found here:  https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/changing-your-add-ons?

Let me flag a rep to help you remove the Easy Roam Travel Pass. It is important that you do it closer to your departure date, so you do not lose any days, especially if you are staying for an extended period of time.

Hi @Denis1962

We see that you haven’t added the travel pass yet, but you can add it closer to the start date of your trip abroad.

If you have any other questions, please let us know and we will do our best to help!

good that you're checking before buying — you're right to sort this out now.

That "use by" date is the deadline to start using the pass, not an expiry of your trip window. A Travel Pass is active for 30 days from activation, and it only activates on first use. So the date you're seeing (2026-09-08) is basically how long you have to begin using it — and since you don't leave until September 10, buying it now means it could lapse before your trip even starts.

So: don't add it yet. Add the pass closer to your departure — you can do it in Self Serve, or by texting the pass code to 7626, while you're still in Canada right before you go. It only activates once you use it overseas, and you're only charged when it's actually used, so there's no downside to waiting. No need to look for an eSIM elsewhere.

One thing for when you land: turn on data roaming in your phone settings, otherwise the pass data won't kick in.
