I am planning on using a Europe Travel Pass for an upcoming trip to Europe. My understanding is that calls and texts within the European country that I’m currently in are included whereas calls and texts to another European country are not.
I’m wondering if this has implications for inter-country roaming. With so many countries close together, I am speculating that there is significant risk of inadvertently roaming onto another country’s network. So if I accidentally roam onto a neighbouring country’s network for a call or text within my current country, is this covered under the travel pass or is it an extra charge?

Correct. Plus you can call and text back to Canada too.

Yes this would be an extra charge.
If you are going to be near a border or are worried, I suggest changing your network settings from Automatic to Manual and then manually select the network for the country you are in.

Thanks Dennis! Oh bother, that’s what I was afraid of. Many countries are so small that you’re never too far from a border.
I wonder how obvious it will be in my network settings which carrier corresponds to which country. I can’t seem to find a country-by-country list of carriers that Koodo has roaming agreements with.
Thanks again, Dennis, that’s perfect. In quickly flipping through the list, I note that many of the carriers are international. In particular, Orange, Vodafone, and T-Mobile look to have fairly broad coverage in Europe. This may be a dumb question but when I manually connect to a network to ensure I’m not roaming, is there any way to tell the difference between Vodafone Netherlands and Vodafone Germany for example?
That's a good question. You may need to research that for the specific country as the foreign provider will be the one that controls the network's naming.
I would make sure that you are connected to the correct networks at the airport as they are typcially far enough away from borders. I suggest taking screenshots of the network names. And I would pay more attention when you are making calls and sending texts. Incoming won't be an issue.
