EASY ROAM - Europe Travel Pass

I have an active Europe easy roam 30 day travel pass. I texted Koodo to activate it, and got a message back saying it’s activated. However, do I need to turn on data roaming in my phone setting to use it or do I leave data roaming off? I can’t tell on the Koodo self-serve if I’m being charged extra for roaming…

Thanks!

Technically, you don't necessarily need to turn on data roaming. If it's turned off, you can still make calls and send/receive SMS text messages provided your device only has data roaming disabled and no other roaming setting, if any, is turned off. However you won't be able to use mobile data or send/receive picture or video messages (MMS) while roaming.

If your plan includes data and you're travelling in a country covered by the Travel Pass, your data usage is covered up to the data included in your plan. So, if you want to use data or MMS while travelling, you'll need to enable data roaming.

When you connect to a roaming network, Koodo should send you a text confirming that your Travel Pass is active. If you can see the Travel Pass under your plan add-ons, it's been successfully added and will apply in eligible countries until it expires or is fully used.

If you're billed for roaming charges while your Travel Pass was active and you were in an applicable country to the pass, you can dispute the charges through Koodo Self Serve by following the steps here.🙂

If the Easy Roam travel pass is active on your account, you must enable data roaming in your device settings.

Otherwise, you will not be able to use your data overseas, negating the purpose of the roaming plan.
