I am thinking of adding Data Block with Picture Message to my sons phone but I have a few questions.

  1. How easy is it to turn on and off?
  2. How quickly does it take effect?
  3. Can he still send and receive text messages?

First, when you said you wish to turn on a data block with picture message, what do you have in mind? Because a data block specifically allows for both SMS and MMS to be used. Just saying :)

To turn it on or off, is as easy as adding or removing the add-on in self serve - as far as I know, it takes effect immediately. See also https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/pausing-and-resuming-data

I see. I’m not sure how you can prevent WiFi connections though, so it might be easy for him to bypass the data block. What phone does he have? There might be ways.

I’ve taken care of wifi in our house. I just want data off so be can’t be online when we’ve told him not to be. Outside of the house not much I can do anymore but every little bit counts

It is not something that can be turned on and off right away. If you decide to enable the data block feature, he will not be able to use data at all and it will take a while to remove it from his line.

How old is your son?

Have you considered a prepaid plan with no data on the plan?

Both Android and iPhone have family and children setups to limit access to certain apps, etc.  Something to look into as well
