Busuu fraud subscription charges

How do I get these fraudulent charges removed?

We have looked into it and we can confirm that this subscription can only be activated by giving consent by replying to the message received on the phone number, after accessing the Busuu website or from the app. 

 

According to the details we see in your account, this service was activated on February April 12.

 

Could you please check if there are any texts on your phone on this date?

 

To cancel this subscription, text STOP to the short code associated with the service (5490).

 

For billing disputes, please contact Busuu:

 

 

From our end, we can block the ability on your Koodo phone number to make third party app purchases that are charged on your Koodo bill, please let us know.

I  have the same issues, without my consent through Koodo the third party charged my account.. I didnt download the app, and it took 2 days to contact the support to ask for cancellation. It looks like a scam

Hi ​@Hilda Szet ​@MD13 Busuu is a legitimate language subscription service. You can unsubscribe by texting STOP to 5490.

From what we understand you have to confirm a code they send via SMS to subscribe. If that is not the case and you’d like to dispute the charges, you can contact them at 1-437-536-9235 or via email at client-ca@busuupromotions.com.

KODOO, THEY ARE FRAUDING PEOPLE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME. THEY DO NOT WAIT FOR YOU TO INPUT A CODE AND I HAVE PROOF. SEE TEXT CHAIN.  I  CLEARLY DID NOT INPUT THE 4 DIGIT CODE.

@Koodo can you review ​@Adam Highwood 's sent text messages?

Did Busuu fraudulently subscribe people? 

We are seeing a much higher complaint rate from Busuu lately. Should Busuu be removed from 3rd party billing for potential abuse?

This is a totally hassle for all of us.  It took me totally 3 days to cancel it and i still need to wait for next 2 billing to get back my $30 refund. 

At first I thought the $15 extra charges was a new cell plan without notice then I read it, it is totally unacceptable,  helping the third party charging our account, ruining our trust.

3rd party billing is a common practice.  Many customers use 3rd party billing for legitimate transactions.  I have flagged a rep to see if they can maybe dig deeper with Busuu as there seems to be an abnormally hgh number of people complaining about them on the community

@Adam Highwood  , ​@Hilda Szet  Have you been able to go through the process we have outlined above to request the cancellation of the service?  Regarding the charges themselves,  since they're from the  third- party service provider, they'll need to handle the refund request on their end. 

On my end, if you approve, I can block all third- party purchases on your number right now to prevent any future unauthorized charges.

Hi ​@Adam Highwood, we’ve reviewed the subscription process for Busuu and from what we understand, you input the code provided on the website or app, not via SMS. 

As we have no further insight or access into this service, if you’d like to dispute the charges, please reach out to them directly using the contact information above.

In the meantime, as my colleague mentioned, we can block third party purchases for your number. If you’d like that, please log out of the Community and log back in, using your Self Serve account credentials as we cannot access your account without authentication.

Same has happened to me, without any approval reply. If I didn’t approve, who has? Koodo cannot charge me back for unapproved expenses… I also have all the evidence proving that I have not replied.

For billing disputes, please use the contact details shared above in the thread to get in touch with the third party provider and also make sure you reply to the text you got to stop further charges.

From our end, we can block third party purchases for your number. Please log out from your community account and log back using the Login via self serve option in the community login option, so we can access the account details. Thank you!
