Hi,

I want to get some clarifications regarding the Black Friday deal of CAD/US/Mex roaming - 60GB  deal:

Plan:  Black Friday plan Canada US Mexico roaming with data talks texts 60 GB ($40 after $10 discount with connecting to chequing account).

Calling/Texting/Data in the US

While in the US with the Koodo Canada–US–Mexico roaming plan, can I make calls and send texts to US numbers without extra charges?

While in the US, can I still make calls/texts back to Canadian numbers as part of the plan?

While in the US , can i use the mobile data ?

Calling/Texting in Mexico

When I’m in Mexico, does the plan allow me to call or text Mexican numbers without additional fees?

While in Mexico, can I also call/text US and Canadian numbers using the plan’s included minutes and messages?

While in Mexico, can I use the mobile data ?

Cross-Region Calling

If I’m in the US, can I call/text Mexican numbers under the plan?

If I’m in Mexico, am I allowed to call/text US numbers as part of the plan?

If I'm in Mexico, am I allowed to call/text Canadian numbers as part of the plan ?

International SMS Feature

The package includes Unlimited international SMS — does this mean I can send SMS to countries outside North America (e.g., the UK) while travelling in the US or Mexico?

Is unlimited international SMS available regardless of which country I'm physically located in (Canada/US/Mexico)?

Yep, the $40 plan (60GB Canada-US-Mexico roaming) lets you use calls, texts, and data in all three countries like you’re still in Canada. So US numbers, Mexican numbers, calls back home to Canada, all included with unlimited minutes and texts.

Data works everywhere on the plan too.

For cross-region calling, you're covered. US to Mexico, Mexico to Canada, all of it uses your included minutes.

The unlimited international SMS is separate from the roaming package though

Ok thank you.

Also following your answer Mexico calls/texts → US are also covered, right ?

To summarize the question if calls/data/text is covered within and between all of these 3 countries CAN/US/MEX ?

The Unlimited International SMS is part of the plan (means not addon or perk) - The question is if can be used while traveling within these 3 countries CAN/US/MEX  (I know Canada is covered , you can send the SMS internationally from Canada, it’s more with other 2 countries US/MEX) ?

Simple:

while in US → International SMS , covered ?

while in Mex → International SMS, covered ?

Thank you.

From my understanding (plan is pretty new), yes, with the $40 60GB Canada-US-Mexico roaming plan, you can call and text US, Canadian, and Mexican numbers from any of those countries without extra charges, and use your data normally while in the US or Mexico. Cross-region calling/texting between Canada, US, and Mexico is included under your plan minutes. Unlimited international SMS is included and can be used while in Canada, US, or Mexico to send texts to countries outside North America like the UK.

Ok, Thank you Rober T (not sure if you’re part of Koodo) hence

maybe someone from @Koodo or @Koodo Community Team can confirm the understanding  (as it may impact the Bill) ?

Yeah, you're right to push for clarity here. The plan covers calls/texts/data within and between all three countries (Canada, US, Mexico) using your included minutes. Unlimited international SMS is built in, not an add-on—and yes, it works while you're in the US or Mexico too, so you can text internationally from either country. That said, for a hard confirmation on international SMS specifics while roaming, I’ll flag a rep so he can confirm before you travel.

I wish it was more clear:

  1. According to my understanding call/text/data within and between these 3 countries CAN/US/MEXICO is covered.
  2.  The international SMS if following the logic below (from the link in prev comment) is only from Canada, but the Unlimited International SMS is part of the package and not addon (hence the confusion):

If you have an international long distance calling or texting add-on, the rates of your add-on only apply when making international long-distance calls or texts from Canada.

Please advise.

Hi @alex23, from what we understand outgoing international SMS is not included from the US and Mexico as well. Calling to another international number (not Can-US-Mex) is also not included, they will be both be charged as pay per use.

As it’s not specified in the plan details, we will double check with our team as well and get back to you as soon as we hear anything, thank you for your patience!

EDIT: edited message for clarity as we received official confirmation of plan details.

Hello @alex23

We received an update in regards to the the inquiry.

International SMS to other countries ( Other than Canada-US-Mex), will be charged as pay per use while in US or Mex.

The feature is active and working only in Canada. So you can send text messages from Canada to other international Countries.

@Koodo

To summarize:

  1. Calls/Text/Data within and between 3 countries CAN/US/MEX is covered under this plan, no additional charges will be incurred.  Limitation is the package data size 60GB, if all the data exhausted, the user will have to obtain/pay for additional data.

  2. Unlimited International SMS - part of the package and allows to send SMS internationally from Canada only. Any International SMS from US / MEX (while travelling in these countries, and not between CAN/US/MEX) will be charged as pay per use.

    Please confirm.
If possible official Koodo rep to confirm it.

    Thank you.

That is correct.

It should be clarified that “international” in this context refers to countries aside from Canada, U.S., and Mexico. You can still send text messages between Canadian, U.S., and Mexican numbers while roaming in those two countries.
