Auto-pay ~ New Phone & Plans

I HAVE to upgrade my phone, but to do that I have 2 options  :

OPTION #1  :

To keep my current plan I have to purchase new phone outright, yeeaaahhhh. NOT in this economy!

OPTION #2  :

Select a new plan, none of which are the same price as my current one, closest is $10.⁰⁰ IF I sign up for the 'auto-pay' (also known as auto-debit) discount; if I don't sign-up for the auto-pay its $20.⁰⁰ more! Errrrrr!!!!

OBVIOUSLY I'll be doing option #2, preferably without the auto-pay. I, however, have a feeling I need to sign-up for it.

The fineprint below is the only fineprint I found, however, this doesn't mean the answer to my question isn't covered by Koodo, its just all I could find. That said, the following is copy & pasted directly from Koodo  :

'The auto-pay discount, if applicable, is only available for eligible Canada Wide Plans and does not apply to Starter Plans. The discount will be applied at the start of your next bill cycle, once your plan change and pre-authorized payment setup are both completed. Offer subject to change without notice. Available to customers who subscribe to eligible plans and enroll with pre-authorized bank payments. The monthly discount will only apply to eligible plans and you must keep pre-authorized bank payments active to maintain the discount. If you or Koodo remove pre-authorized bank payments the plan will no longer be eligible for the monthly discount. All prices do not include applicable taxes. Discounts, promotions, benefits and credits are earned for each full month of service and do not apply to partial billing periods.'

Here is my questions  :

#1.  Does this mean if I don't sign up for auto-pay I can't get the Tab bonus? (I'm not referring to the Tab but the Tab bonus ~ where money is taken off the cost of the phone, making your Tab & therefore monthly payment less; sometimes even making it so you don't have a Tab!). It doesn't seem to cover that.

#2.  If I were to sign-up for auto-pay does the money come out the day my bill is due or can I choose my own date?

If you need clarification on anything please feel free to ask ! I don't want to have to try to get a callback. Last time I nearly lost my mind trying to get the robot chat (Koodo assist) to understand what I wanted!

The Tab Bonus is different from the auto-pay discount. It is a balance that is deducted until you complete the 24-month period. If you decide to upgrade, change, or cancel your plan before the end of the period, you will be liable for the remaining Tab and Tab Bonus balance. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/Tab-bonus

As for the pre-authorized payments, they are taken out around 15 days before the end of the billing cycle. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-pre-authorized-payments
