Question

With the new VoLTE changes coming up is the OnePlus 15R CPH2771 going to work on with Koodo?

I’m looking to buy the OnePlus 15R CPH2771 which is the North American version but I’m having trouble confirming it will work on the koodo network after March.  Does anyone know if it will?  OnePlus is not on the whitelist that I’m seen published and you can’t search the IMEI number until you buy the phone which would be to late.  Is there anyway to find out?

There isn't really a Koodo whitelist to go by, what matters is whether Koodo/Telus has certified the model for VoLTE. OnePlus isn't sold through Koodo and the OnePlus 12 is the one people keep running into here, LTE data worked fine but VoLTE and wifi calling didn't. Without VoLTE calls fall back to 3G, and the national 3G shutdown starts March 1 2027, so calling on that device goes away at that point.

Before buying I would ask the seller for the IMEI of the actual unit and run it through the compatibility checker https://www.telus.com/en/support/article/how-to-use-volte

The IMEI tool isn't always correct btw.

Personally I would go with a phone Koodo or Telus sells so you know VoLTE gets provisioned.

As of right now I see this as a risk.  Until Koodo allows any and all VoLTE capable phones to use VoLTE on their network, you are risking the 3G charges.

My hope is that as we near the national 3G sunset date, Koodo will be forced to whitelist all compatible phones (however Rogers/Fido still has this whitelist issue after their 3G sunset).  I am hearing rumours that Bell/Virgin allows any compatible phone to use VoLTE but it is hard to confirm as it may be specific phones only.  Honestly I see no reason to restrict VoLTE and this is just a corporate strategy by the telecoms

Based on this comment, the OnePlus 15R is compatible with VoLTE on the Telus network, meaning that it will also work on the Koodo network. If you are still not sure, you can ask a friend who owns one of these devices to test it out.
