wifi calling change?

I have used wifi calling for a long time.  Recently my phone has been dropping calls at home. I use wifi calling because I only get either no bars or just  one bar of mobile reception in my house.  So I double-checked that wifi calling was on. It was but it was set to mobile network preferred and there was no longer a choice to use wifi as there was before.

I don't understand why the only choice is to use mobile network. Isn't the point of wifi calling to use wifi because you have little to no reception at the time.  And if I'm losing calls in my house then it's not switching to wifi. (Which I read is supposed to happen)

Which phone are you using? Koodo's Wi-Fi Calling prioritizes cellular, so mobile network preferred being the only option isn't unusual. Per Koodo, the phone should switch to Wi-Fi on its own when it determines you have low or no cellular coverage: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/wifi-calling

The catch is with one bar the phone may still think cellular is good enough, which could be why your calls drop. A quick test is to turn on airplane mode, turn Wi-Fi back on and make a call. If that works then Wi-Fi calling itself is fine.

I would also try a network settings reset (it clears saved Wi-Fi passwords and you may need to turn Wi-Fi calling back on after) and redo the e911 registration with the address registered with Koodo.

If you are getting a poor connection, I would suggest you to try turning on airplane mode to force your phone to use wi-fi calling and keeping it for the duration of your call.
