Poor internet service

I live rurally and have a lot of difficulties with dropped calls and poor internet service. I purchased a used phone from Koodo and am on contract for another year but want out. How do I do that?

There is no fixed contract term on Koodo, the plan itself is month-to-month. What keeps you there is the Tab. If you got the phone on the Tab, you can leave anytime but you would have to pay off the remaining Tab balance and Tab Bonus (plus taxes) when you cancel or move the line to another carrier. You can see both amounts on the Koodo Tab page in Self Serve https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/the-koodo-tab-page-in-self-serve

Before you go, which phone are you using? Is it mostly indoor signal that drops, or outdoors too? And are other people in your area having the same issue? I would recommend going through this guide first https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/im-not-getting-any-network-service since your problem may not just be coverage.

If you still want out after that, I can flag a rep to go over your options.

Hi @Ruut

We are sorry to hear about the issues that you are encountering!

Just to double check, does this happen since you joined Koodo or it started later?

While home, do you have wifi calling enabled?

Is there coverage available in your area when checking the coverage map?

Thank you Dinh!  I have checked my tab and now see what is owed. The calls get dropped in the house and outside for about 3 or 4 km along the road. No text messages can be sent in that area either. There’s no service from the moment I leave the garage and the service in the house is spotty at best.

this has been the case since joining Koodo about a year ago. It seems to actually have gotten worse for the phone calls but the lack of service in a 3-4 km area has been consistent. I do have wifi calling enabled.

my partner has coverage with Rogers and experiences none of these issues.

From your description, it sounds like your area may have weak network coverage. Have you tried letting the phone search for available networks and attempting to connect to “EXT” in your area?

Also, could you insert your Koodo SIM card into another phone to see whether the signal reception improves?

This is likely due to the upcoming 3G network shutdown that is happening in March 2027. Telus and Bell are slowly working to move on to reallocate their spectrum to boost their LTE and 5G network.

I would suggest you to schedule a callback through Koodo Assist and speak with a rep about your issue. They should be able to relay your details to the appropriate department. https://Koo.do/Chat
