New customer assigned a new mobile # rather than porting a new number

I am a new customer and awaiting the delivery of my SIM card. The email updates I have received in advance of setting up my services includes the assignment of a new mobile number despite I requested the porting over of my current mobile number. Do I need to worry about this now or do I simply wait until I receive the SIM card for my current number to be ported over?

You will transfer your number over once the sim arrives by following the steps here:
https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/moving-your-number-koodo

If the number was transferred when you placed the order, then you would’ve been without service until the sim arrives.
