My email has been fraudulently used to create an account

I recently received an email from Koodo saying that I’ve successfully created an new account using my email address for a prepaid service. Unfortunately, there is no option for me to report this, because I’m in the UK and apparently Koodo doesn’t speak to people internationally. The chat bot insists that I give my prepaid account information (which I don’t have, since I didn’t set this up), and the “schedule a callback” doesn’t work for international phone numbers. There’s no email address available for me to reach out to someone either, so as far as I can tell, there’s nothing I can do?

I’ve had to create an account on here just so I can voice this to someone. SO, hopefully someone can help!

Hi @Guy who's been hacked

If your email has been used for a Koodo prepaid account creation, we recommend contacting the Privacy Center at  privacy@koodomobile.com and provide the details you received in the email. They should be able to further look into it.

Thank you!

Thank you for the quick reply. I’ll give that a go.

Greatly appreciated!

I dont think this is hacking at all.

Likely someone with a similar email had a typo during sign up.

Using your email to create an account does not expose any of your personal info, especially with prepaid.

I understand what you are saying about it not exposing any of my personal info, but when I received a “verify the account by this button” email. And then a “congratulations on verifying your account” email, I’m not so convinced. Which says to me that my email is unsecure, but while that’s a separate issue I need to sort, I still don’t want my email linked to a mobile account I don’t own from a different country.

Regular email password changes is always smart.

I agree The Verifying account email is slightly worrisome.
