Koodo Netword Upgrade

I received the message “We're boosting your plan to include 5G 1Gbps (that's seriously fast speeds)”.  I dont know exactly what that involves, but their website talks about “5G-compatible device” as well as VoLTE.  Does anyone know if theirs is the same “upgrade” that Public Mobile (another Telus company) launched a couple of years ago.  My phone (Samsung A71 - SM-A715W) is  5G compatible, but the way Public Mobile implemented their Volte, it was no longer compatible and it suddenly stopped receiving calls after their upgrade., so I had to transfer to Koodo.  Will I be kicked from Koodo  when this upgrade happens?

Hi @pjtmobileKoComm

You should be able to continue using your phone on the Koodo network after the speed upgrade, as long as your phone is compatibile on the Koodo network. More info can be found here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/5g-1gbps-migration

What if I have an older 4G LTE phone?

No problem at all! If your current phone doesn't support 5G, you don't need to run out and buy a new one. Your phone will continue to work perfectly on our reliable 4G LTE network. While you won't hit 1Gbps speeds on an older LTE device, you will naturally inherit the maximum optimal performance your phone can handle on our 4G infrastructure until you decide to upgrade to a 5G phone down the road.”

To verify the compatibility on the Koodo network, please check https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/phone-compatibility

Thanks for the prompt answer- I am particularly concerned about 5G as long as it works, so I will just wait and see, assuming it will work.

The information I am finding on your phone indicates that it's not 5G compatible.  However, since 4G LTE networks are not expected to be shut down until 2030 at the earliest, your phone will be fine for a while. Your phone will simply continue to connect to 4G networks.  And your our speed will continue as it is now.
