Is this text from Koodo legitimate?

I got a text from short code 5805 asking me to reply with "Y" or "N" to confirm a recent online order. The email contained the correct order details and my phone number. I just thought it was strange that koodo is texting me to confirm an order when I already have the email confirmation.

Hi @Krist28

We have looked into it and we can confirm the message you got is from Koodo and it is legitimate.

In certain situations, after completing the order, you might receive this additional text to authorize the order. This is as an extra layer of security to prevent potential fraudulent purchases.

Eh, did you initiate the order via their online website? If you didn’t don’t do anything.
in the mean time, I recommend you change your selfserve password.

If the info is all correct, it is likely to be authentic

You can also email the website using the email here

That seems suspicious. I would suggest you to contact the Koodo Web Store directly by sending an email to koodo.webstore@koodomobile.com to confirm your order.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! It is a legitimate message from Koodo. I wish there was more information available about this particular security feature. I couldn't find anything online about Koodo texting people to confirm orders. I'm wary of these types of messages.

It is always good to be cautious.

When in doubt, I would never use the links in the email.  I would go to the koodo site to find the email there.
