Identity Theft / Fraudulent Koodo Account is hurting my credit

I recently (last Saturday) discovered that a Koodo Mobile account and associated phone number, which I never opened, applied for, or authorized, has been reported on my credit files with both TransUnion and Equifax. I have never held a Koodo account, never used the phone number in question, and never provided my personal information to Koodo for this purpose. I believe someone has used my personal identifying information without my knowledge or consent to open this account.

How can i report this to the koodo fraud management team and ask for investigation? I already notified both credit bureaus (equifax and transition), reported to local police and have a file number ready, also reported to canadian anti-fraud. I do not have a koodo account so cannot even apply for a call-back, the privacy team i emailed replied:”I understand how this has caused you some concern. Matters related to fraud investigations fall outside the scope of the Privacy department. Fraudulent account cases are managed exclusively by our Fraud Management team. To proceed with your fraud claim, please contact Customer Care using one of the following methods: To speak to Koodo Customer Care or to get assistance with your phone, please contact 1-866-995-6636. Alternatively, you can easily set up an appointment for a call back with a Koodo agent via our Koodo Assistant by clicking on the following link: https://www.koodomobile.com/ Click on 'Help' and then 'Koodo Assist.'”

and i cannot get in touch with them either ways.

The callback doesn't need a Koodo account or a Koodo number, any North American number works. Go to www.koodo.com/chat and ask for a callback, it just asks for your name, a number and a time.

When the agent calls, you can say up front that this is a fraud claim on an account you never opened, and ask specifically for a formal fraud investigation. Have the police file number and your anti-fraud centre report handy.

And unfortunately, Reps in the forum can't look up an account that isn't tied to your community profile, so the callback is really the route here.

Thank you for your reply, but when i tried to request a call-back it kept asking me to sign in my account, which option can get me the right place?

Make sure you choose the option that you are not a Koodo customer. Next You can type  “victim of fraud”, the system will schedule a call back

Thank you i finally found it! Also i’m currently not in Canada due to family emergency, is it possible for my friend representing me to make the call? Since they cannot make international calls

Typically, Koodo prefers to speak directly with the actual account owner. You can try asking them first. If that doesn’t work, your friend can ask what alternatives are available.
