I recently migrated from my dying iPhone SE 1st generation to a new 3rd generation counterpart. I don't recall setting up voicemail transcription, but I was surprised to find that this is how my voicemail is now coming in. Can I enable/disable voicemail transcription at whim?

Sounds like you have Apple Live voicemail enabled. You will have to turn that on in your Iphone’s settings

Thanks, Dennis. That’s exactly the hint I needed (though I actually wanted to know how to turn it off if I don’t get used to it). In iOS 18.01, it is Settings → Apps → Phone → Live Voicemail.
