Why did I get a hard inquiry on my credit for a month to month service without notification or permission? 

@Maggie4000 In Canada, selected businesses have limited access to credit files to ensure business continuity. It does not require expressed consent to be given.

All mobile phone providers for post paid services require access to credit history. For prepaid services this is not the case.  I hope this helps.
