Getting my daughter in another city onto my plan

Are you a prepaid (pay as you go) or postpaid (monthly) customer?

If you're on prepaid, lines can't be combined under one account. Your daughter would have to activate her own prepaid SIM on a different email, so she can pick up a prepaid SIM at a local store and activate it herself, it just won't be on your plan.

Each line has its own plan and data, nothing is shared, but it all goes on one bill. The system will likely assign a number local to you, after that you can change it to her city's area code. If she grabs a SIM at a store, make sure it's a postpaid one, prepaid and postpaid SIMs aren't interchangeable.

To confirm, do you want your daughter to be able activate a pay as you go (prepaid) plan? If so, only one line can be active on a prepaid account at one time. It cannot have multiple lines, so she would have to activate her own account.

If this is the case, Yes - she can go to the local Koodo or Telus store and activate her own prepaid account. There is no age of majority for activating a prepaid account as it is a subscription service and does not require a credit check. When she activates the account, she will have to pay the plan’s cost to get it started and then it will be activated for the next 30 days after which she will need to pay the subscription again.

If you would like to pay for the account going forward instead of your daughter, you can setup automatic payments on the account to a credit card or MasterCard/Visa debit card that you own instead and it will be renewed every 30 days from the time of purchase to that card.

It would be best to create her own prepaid plan. She can get the prepaid SIM card from her nearest Koodo store or authorized dealer such as Walmart and Best Buy, create her Self-Serve account, provide you with her login details, and set up your pre-authorized payment details to activate her service.
