You are likely using a recycled number and this person is trying to reach out to the previous owner of the number. You can either pick up the call and let them know or ignore it.

Alternatively, you can choose a number from a newer area code, such as 437 and 942 for Toronto and 365 for surrounding areas.

As a precaution, I would suggest you to enable the Call Control feature on your Self-Serve account to prevent any further unwanted calls. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/call-control

Unfortunately there isn’t anything Koodo can do for people who think the old owner still has this number. You’d have to notify whomever is calling you that it’s no longer the perosn they think it is. For automated calls or bots, you can do the call control as stated.

Numbers are reused.  Unless it is a brand new area code, it is highly unlikely you will get an new never been used phone number.

If you like your new phone number, you can wait it out.  Or you can change your number. Note that you won’t be able to change your rate plan during the billing cycle that you make this change; and  you won't be able to make or receive calls for 15 minutes.

There is also no guarantee that the new number wont have the same issue.
