I have Koodo number but currently I’m abroad, is there any way I can call back to my Canadian fellows from Kazakhstan?

Some other apps that you can use in place of easy roam are the simple ones like Facebook Messenger or What’s App in case you have readily available access to Wi-Fi during your trip.

Note: these will only be free while connected to Wi-Fi. If you use data to use the apps then you will be charged the roaming fee, at which point you might as well use your plan.

To correct Robert in case they were not aware, it is in fact $18 per day for Easy Roam International. This has changed a few months ago. So be careful when using it as you can rack up a large bill quite quickly.

Yes, use Koodo’s Easy Roam for international calling ($16/day, capped at $350/cycle). It covers voice calls to Canada while abroad; just dial normally (e.g., +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX).

Turn on Data Roaming in settings if needed. Charges start when you make a call (receiving SMS is free).

To avoid surprise fees, check your plan’s roaming eligibility in Self Serve first. Details here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/understanding-how-youll-be-charged-while-travelling.

WiFi calling app could be cheaper : download Fongo, make an account and call for free on Wifi.
