Can I buy a new tab while I am on a Happy tab plan with koodo for an existing number ? Tab balance is zero. Will I have to return the previous phone if I buy a new one before the 2 year period ?

No, the Tab is separate from the Tab Bonus. You will still be liable for the remaining Tab and Tab Bonus balance if you upgrade before the end of the 2-year Tab period.
It is best that you calculate the balance and weigh the advantages and disadvantages before upgrading your phone.
You can choose to wait until Black Friday or Boxing Day for the best deals. Alternatively, you can consider getting a second-hand device from Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, or eBay.
May not be a good idea to upgrade midway. When I try to add another phone with a new plan to the existing number I get the below message on the Checkout.

I thought if the monthly tab bonus is zero, I can buy another phone for no cost. But breaking the 2 year contract midway by opting for a new phone would mean I will have to pay all applicable discounts/credits in my next bill.
